A structured A Level General Paper tuition programme for students who want to do well, and are prepared to work for it.
A deliberate, progressive curriculum—not random lessons stitched together.
Original textbooks updated yearly, written to be used—not admired.
Former MOE teachers, JC lecturers, and tutors with deep GP expertise.
Significantly more essays than typical JC programmes, with structured feedback.
Capped at ~150 students per cohort to preserve quality and feedback standards.
Most students in our previous GP cohorts achieved an A or B grade.
Most students taking GP have the same outcome in mind.
They want an A.
Not because it sounds nice on paper, but because GP affects university options and overall results more than people like to admit. That's why finding the right GP tuition matters.
Many students understand the issue being discussed, but struggle to express their ideas clearly and coherently.
Arguments drift. Paragraphs lose focus. Marks are lost not because the ideas are wrong, but because the writing is imprecise.
GP content feels unbounded. Students read widely but often without direction.
They are unsure which issues matter, how deeply they should know them, and how to organise what they have read.
Application questions require more than understanding the passage.
They demand relevance, contextual awareness, and disciplined use of examples—skills many students are not explicitly taught.
From our experience, students who do well in GP tend to have the following:
Our programme is built around these requirements.
Essays Written (vs typical 15)
Themes Mastered (vs typical 6-8)
Feedback Rate (vs sporadic)
Practice Per Essay Type (vs 2-3 attempts)
Technology's impact on society
AI ethics deep dive
Digital divide analysis
Automation's future
Same theme. Evolving sophistication. Deepening mastery.
"This isn't about being naturally gifted. It's about repetition creating competence, and competence creating confidence."
ETG began as an A Level Economics programme. Founded by Mr Eugene Toh, the centre spent its early years focused on building a strong and consistent Economics curriculum.
We started developing GP classes, running only small cohorts each year—two classes at most. During this time, we rewrote our materials annually, adjusted the syllabus structure, and refined how lessons were conducted.
We did not promote the programme aggressively because it was still evolving. GP is a subject where shortcuts show quickly.
After nine years of development, we are confident enough to open the programme more deliberately.
Attend a trial lessonAll GP materials at ETG are produced in-house. The curriculum is overseen by Mr Eugene Toh, working with our GP tutors and academic advisors, and structured as a two-year programme.
The aim is not to cover everything, but to cover the right things properly.
Textbooks are updated yearly
Students are not trained to memorise answers. They are trained to recognise issues, frame arguments, and respond appropriately under exam conditions.
Our GP classes are taught by experienced educators familiar with the syllabus, the demands of the examination, and the patterns in how questions are set.
Most students write relatively few full essays across two years of JC. This limits improvement.
At ETG, we deliberately increase writing volume. Students are guided to write significantly more essays in both JC1 and JC2, with feedback focused on structure, relevance, and clarity.
"Improvement in GP is gradual. Consistency matters more than intensity, and structure matters more than inspiration."

We cap our GP intake. This is a deliberate decision, made to preserve teaching quality and feedback standards.
We have expanded slowly since 2018 and will continue to do so cautiously.

GP does not improve after one lesson. Rome was not built in a day, and certainly not for a subject like General Paper.
We also offer a limited number of 1-to-1 tutoring slots. Contact our admin team for details.
